( a space to be + a space to become )

Hello and welcome to this space! As a Queer, disabled, neuroemergent Afro-Caribbean womxn and artist, I’ve dreamt of having and curating creative and performance communities that center marginalized identities like my own. Through my work, I hope to facilitate and hold space for utopian dialogues, collective dreaming, and reflections on decolonization, eroticism, exploration, grief, birth, and IRL world-building.

Throughout my life, I’ve struggled to balance a multitude of passions and callings due to living in a system that favors constant labor over enthusiastic participation. This work includes (but is not limited to): birthwork, alternative early childhood education, studio/mixed-media/fiber arts, soapmaking and sculpting, herbalism, filmmaking, theater and performing arts, modeling, circus, and flow arts, sexwork, and writing. Within all of these fields, I’ve been confronted with recurring themes of othering, exclusivity, white supremacy, and other oppression-centric pitfalls impacting the functionality of the industry as a whole and my ability to navigate said communities without being subjected to and perpetuating those same harmful ideals.

Throughout these pages, I hope to grow a space to explore the connections, commonalities, and comorbidities of these issues in our day-to-day lives. Where are they present? Where do they lurk; where do they prominently stand? How do they thrive? What is the cost to our physical and metaphysical selves? How can we starve them while nurturing other ways of being, both in the immediate and the long-term?

I offer you an opportunity to explore and share your personal narrative in whatever medium feels right to you. I think we can connect our dots with others and begin to examine just how collective our narratives are!

This is a project that cannot grow without your participation. Please take a look around and find something that strikes a chord with you! Leave comments, send me your work to promote here, watch films and read books with me (and more)! The idea is to start an empathetic and hopeful dialogue with those with whom we share common identities, concerns, and dreams. A shared, Utopian sketchbook, if you will.

In addition to holding and moderating this virtual space, I will also be writing, filming, and documenting a multi-media body of work with the intention of beginning or contributing to these increasingly important conversations. My wish is that you’ll join me in sharing your words, visuals, sounds, art, and feelings about your place in this world and what you’d like it to become.

This iteration of such a space cannot exist without your support, whether it be participatory, monetary, or both! Your donations not only help me cover the cost of recording/filming equipment and software, art supplies, materials, performance costuming, and set design, as well as labor and time; but they also help me stay afloat and maintain autonomy in a society designed to systematically disenfranchise people like me. I hope that by curating a space that promotes and centers the work of Black and Brown LGBTQIA+ artists and community members, we’ll also be curating a directory of people to support with reparative acts and fund redistribution. Thank you for being here!
